Corona and Jainism

I came home, washed my legs and hands at the gate only using water and soap. Then immediately went to the bathroom for a bath without even touching a  single thing at home. I even kept my changed clothes in a tub for washing adding detergent to it. No. No…It was not morning but afternoon nor I had come from somebody’s last rites. This routine was started from the day the Covid-19 pandemic has taken over our life. From this routine, I just remembered my childhood days when my grandmother used to change clothes very frequently. We were not allowed to touch anything before bathe in kitchen. She used to wash hands for every little activity. Like wash hands for touching chapatti, wash hands for just serving food, wash hands after touching every pot before touching any other thing. And this was followed so rigorously that there would be arrangement of washing hands using two pots near her. One pot with clean water and another pot to add dirty water after hand wash. She ...

Micro-Fiction Story.   (55 words or less.) " Stranger " His mouth open in shock, He stared as the alien stood tall, swaying this way and that. He couldn't tear his eyes away, the sight surreal. THE RAIN, BUT NO RAIN

When I used to work a full day and come late at night from the office after working more than 12 hours a day, I was always out of energy.   My friend Sunny was my roommate. He was also always late. We were staying in a single room with one old bed. The room was on the ground floor, and the owner's residence was on the first floor.   Sometimes owner's residence above or below your residence is equal to a headache. They keep an eye on you like a CCTV camera. It is not that we used to do something which we were required to hide from the owner. But too much attention sometimes irritates. Anyways, we got used to this behavior. On one fine day, the owner had a dream; maybe, he decided to renovate his home. He called up an architect and finalized the map. We both were completely unaware of the situation. The next day, the work started. They started removing old tiles. Then they just spread water there. We both were at our respective offices. We were completely unawar...

My Book - Lockdown : A Journey on fire

LOCKDOWN: A JOURNEY ON FIRE Initially, I had thought of writing this story for this blog only. But when I started writing, it was not falling under a short story. So I decided to extend it to make a good novel or novella.  Finally, I completed the story. But there were many hurdles. I was not knowing how to proceed further.  I was not sure whether there will be ROI. Hence finally I decided to release my book on my own on kindle. Thankfully I learned many things in this process about editing, cover design. Yes, I am still not perfect. It is just a start.  But I am learning. But one thing I am very much confident that the story of this book will be liked and will be appreciated. I am trying to learn the skill of writing to its excellence.   To view Book Trailer - click here This is a story of a young couple who were forced to travel from Pune to Agra on foot, an approximate 1000km journey during a complete Lockdown in India. I have tried to show here...

An unforgettable help

There was a quality issue with one product. The customer asked me to come and segregate the products in their line. As a supplier, we always treat the customer as God. I immediately ran to the Customer plant with two quality inspectors with me to segregate the material. The procedure for segregation was not easy. First of all, I informed the customer about our visit so that they can arrange our entry at the gate. We entered the premises. There were a lot of approvals required to segregate the material. Till that time we were just waiting outside of the office. Once permission was done, we entered the plant. The material was arranged. We started segregation. It was summer. We were feeling like we were burning in the chamber. In that, every manager of the different department of customer started questioning about the generation of the defect. Some even shouted that because of our product, there was serious concern on the line of assembly of products. As it was our fault, I kept quiet w...

Supreme Chastity

Human beings and animals are differentiated by one major factor of socialism through sexual desires and limitations. I never understood how all religions developed a common social practice of marriage. The practice of marriage is available in all religions including Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jain, etc. Many times a question arises why there would be a need for marriage in society. Why human beings would have developed such a system of marriage where they have developed their own rules and regulations. Open adultery creates an inconvenient and dishonest society. This will give rise to an untruthful, forgery, hypocritical society. There would be no difference between human beings and animals intellectually. Our behavior patterns will be very much similar to animals. Some will become wild animals and some will become submissive pet animals. Slaves and master-concept will take place instead of a collaborative, supportive society. Even though this looks like an exaggerated pictu...

Supreme Non attachment

In all lives, the human being is the only being who can do this. No other animal can do this as easily as a human can do. Yes. Nonattachment of objects. But in actuality, the human being is the only being that accumulates not only sufficient for him but struggles to accumulate so that his next seven generations should not face any problem. He never understands that generations get what they deserve. And now a day, property, money, general objects of day to day use even pets have become desirable things. If we have them, we cannot sleep in the fear of if somebody steals them from us. And if we do not have them, we cannot sleep in the worry of not having anything.   A man has many desires which keep increasing with time. These desires increase attachments. There was a boy who had nothing but just a small sleeping bag with him. He used to sleep on the road. As he had no property he was sleeping quite well in the night on the footpath. He was keeping his sleeping bag i...

Sacrifice

Human life is incomplete without sacrifice. But if we have no other option than to sacrifice something is not actually a sacrifice. It is called helplessness. It has an altogether different system. Also, sacrifice is always to give something and not taking out the life of anybody or anything. When we have lots of options by which we can possess more than what we have or there is no need to donate something to somebody but still if we sacrifice or donate for someone’s betterment is actually a sacrifice.  As human beings, we live in society. So it is our duty to donate what society needed. This donation can be small or big but it should be as per society’s requirement.   Donation by pure heart gives the best result in terms of real happiness and inner peace.  Suppose you are walking on the road with a vegan sandwich in hand. And you see a very poor small orphan boy, very hungry crying for food, ask you the sandwich. You already had food. But you have taken ...

Supreme Austerity

Life is always unpredictable. We live life for all those who do not wait for a while to start your last rites. Knowing this fact, we should live life.  But many people take it negatively and hence say if nobody is yours then why we should live in society. But understand that to be social is a need of life. Being a human beings, we are dependable on society emotionally as well as physically. To maintain the balance of this situation, supreme austerity is the best solution.  Especially in today’s corona pandemic situation, it is very much needed to control your wishes and passions. From ancient times, in India, supreme austerity is practiced and followed very successfully by the majority of people. But with modernization, the graph of followers of this technique has been drastically reduced.  Even though corona has again reestablished the necessity of this technique to control your wishes for food to increase immunity, to stay away from your own people, even if ...

Self Constraint

Every action has a reaction. This law of physics was well-known from ancient times. In manufacturing to control defects, we use process controls. In the same way, to control defective reactions, we need to control our own actions which means we need to self-constraint ourselves. I had heard one example somewhere.  Suppose a man came home after working hard throughout the day. He is very much hungry. Now after coming home if he gets lots of food, suppose lots of pizzas are ready for him.  Looking at the ready pizza, he will feel happy as he loves to eat pizzas. Now when he eats one pizza, he is very happy.  But still, he is a little hungry.  Now he eats second pizza. Again he is very happy. As he loves pizzas, he could not resist eating one more pizza.  Now his stomach is almost full.  As his wife asks him to eat one more, he eats again one more pizza but while eating the same pizza, he is not feeling now happy.   When his wife asks him...

The purity of thought

Everything in the world in its purest form becomes its best form. The water when achieves its purest form becomes the sweetest in the taste. When air is in its purest form it becomes the freshest air. The same thing happens with our minds as well. If you remove all your possessiveness from the mind, the mind works most beautifully. If your thoughts are pure, you become the best person.  Bhagwan Mahaveer, Lord Ram left everything and become God. Lord Jesus left this world on the cross and it became the symbol of Christians.  Lord Gautam Buddha also left his extra luxurious life as a king and became a saint. When your soul starts its purification, material possessiveness goes away from the soul.  There was a rich person living in a palace. He was a miser, would not spend a single penny extra, or would not help anybody. Once there was a flood in the town. His palace got immersed in water. He was on the top of the palace.  A man with a boat came and as...

The Truth

There are many sayings on truth. Truth is something if we know it, false cannot hide itself. But if the truth is unknown, false hide everything and become king itself. There is always debate that whether saying truth is always correct or in some situations saying truth is wrong.  One example I always heard from saints. This story was told to me by a Jain monk. There was a saint. He was sitting under a tree. On the tree, one hummingbird was sitting on a branch. A hunter came there searching for the bird. But looking at the hunter, the bird immediately came and sat on the palm of the saint.  It said to the saint, “Hey saint! God has sent me to you. He said that you are a godman. If I tell you my problem you will save me. Please save me from that hunter. You cover your palm with another palm so that I will not be visible to the hunter. But if he asks you, don’t tell him that I am here.”  The saint had taken an oath that he would never tell lie in his life. He cov...
