I was employed by one company. The company had 50 employees. It is a partnership firm. They used to get job work from well-known OEM firms. Customers used to provide the raw materials, and we would process the parts. Then the customers would take back the finished products. In their logistic arrangements, the customer had a system for sending raw material as well as picking up processed material. So our job was to work efficiently because our efficiency was a direct profit to the owner.
We used to have a very strict environment in the workplace. There would be a deafening silence when the owner arrived at the company. Nobody dared to say anything in front of him. Everyone used to be afraid of him. People who were new to the company initially despised him. But he had four old employees in whom he had great faith. They used to hold him in high regard. From them, I got to know that the owner is like a coconut. Though outside, he is an extremely tough person, he is actually very soft on the inside. Slowly, I began to respect him, and I was impressed by his working style. He is very intelligent, despite the fact that he did not pursue higher education.
Clients used to send raw materials in their trucks. Once, a truck driver arrived at the company to deliver raw materials for a consignment. He then went to the receptionist and demanded that the material be unloaded as soon as possible. In this regard, he misbehaved with the receptionist. She immediately complained to the owner. The owner summoned the driver and chastised him. But it didn't stop there. He sent him back without unloading the material. Then he informed the owner that he had returned the material and would not honor the purchase order. Additionally, he warned the client to send the appropriate person for delivery and that the same truck driver would never be permitted into the company premises again.
He canceled his one large purchase order for an employee. It is not a small thing, specifically during a period of market slack. He is, however, a man of principles.
